Biodiversity Management and Climate Change

7-9 December 2021, University of Canberra. Canberra, ACT, Australia.

We are excited to announce that the AWMS2021 conference will be delivered both in person and online!

The conference will have the theme of “Biodiversity Management and Climate Change”, asking such questions as: what strategies are governments and non-government organisations putting in place to best protect terrestrial and fresh-water ecosystems for which they are responsible? What should be the priorities in managing our landscapes to offer best protection for wildlife? Who will use a triage system and what will that look like in the Murray Darling Basin for instance if in-flows to the Basin reduce by 30% by 2060?; What are the politics of climate change and wildlife management and how do we manage the politics? Are government and non-government organisations collaborating effectively on this issue? Is there a best strategy for this complex problem? What does this mean for terrestrial, and fresh water wildlife management in the Australasian region?

The Conference opening address will be given by Professor Mark Howden from the Australian National University who is a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
